Setting up background playback.
Premium subscribers have a convenient opportunity to play videos with the screen off.
To enable or configure background playback, click on the profile picture, go to Settings and select "Background Playback".

Now make a choice:
Always on — videos are always played in the background.
Disabled — videos are never played in the background.
Headphones or other audio devices — Videos are played in the background only when your device is connected to an external audio output.
By default, the video is always played in the background.
When background playback is enabled, standard playback controls are available on the lock screen and in the Control Center even after exiting the YouTube app. There are standard buttons for resuming/pausing and switching to the previous/next video.
An additional bonus is a miniature. Although the volume slider behaves predictably, this does not apply to the pointer at the top, which does not allow you to move to any point in the background video by clicking.
Background video playback and downloading are not available for YouTube Premium users while in countries where a Premium subscription is not sold.
