I think what you said made a ton of sense. However, consider this, suppose you were to write a killer headline? I mean, I don't wish to tell you how to run your website, however suppose you added something that grabbed a person's attention? I mean New Discussion is kinda boring. You might peek at Yahoo's front page and watch how they create post headlines to get people to open the links. You might try adding a video or a picture or two to get people interested about what you've written. Just my opinion, it might make your website a little livelier.
